4.28.06 Friday Favorite
I am getting a kitten!!!!!!!!!!! I finally got my husband to agree. Now, I had to make a deal with him to get him to agree; but, I think the deal is TOTALLY worth it. I am getting him a much coveted paintball gun for his birthday and I am getting a kitten.
I have never had a kitten before. I have raised and trained two puppies; however, I have plenty of cat-owner friends that are more than willing to give advise on how to keep and raise a new kitten. The picture above is not a picture of the kitten I am adopting. The kitten that I am adopting is only 2 1/2 weeks old; so, I have to wait at least 4 more weeks before I can go get her. I have been promised pictures from her mom's owner and I will post those as soon as I get them.
Today's Friday Favorite is really a poll of what I should name my new kitten baby. I am having trouble finding a name. I have a month so I thought I would ask my readers what they think. I like unusual (but not outrageous) names. For example, if I were getting a boy kitten, I would name him Ezra. If I pick your name, I will send you a prize!! Tell me what you think.

4.21.06 ReVamp
As you can see, I am reVamping my blog. There is still some work to be done; however, I think I have done about as much as I know how to do right now. I am learning and learning quickly; so, over the next few days you will probably see some changes. Please excuse the mess while I go through some "growing" pains. The end result will be fabulous...no doubt about it. ;o)

4.19.06 A Funny Way To Say Things
I say the days of the week like this: Mondee, Tuesdee, Wednesdee…you get the idea.
My mom says the word “on” like you would pronounce “own”. She also says “pilla” for the word “pillow”.
My dad has made so much fun of his mother for saying this: “Raise the windas [windows] down”: that he says it too.
My brother used to call a book a “berk” and milk “milch”.
As a baby, my sister called her blanket a “gink gink” and she called our brother “boy”.
My grandmother says “waked” instead of “woke” and it is actually correct either way.
I speak with people every day that make “dog” a two syllable word and actually pronounce the “l” in “talk”. I really do…it’s not just in the movies, folks.
What do you or your family say that’s funny?

4.17.06 We Hit the Record High
Yep, that says 98 Fahrenheit. That was the "snapshot" of Dallas weather a little before noon. Later on, the temperature reached a scorching 101 (in some places 103). What have Texans done to upset the gods of weather that we should be punished so early?? Or is it a punishment?
Good things about the hot weather...we get to swim in April; the flowers are blooming; Spring is definately here; shorts, tank tops and flip flops; open windows; "summer" nights; barefeet; pretty days and blue skies; preparing early for a Hell of a Summer! :o)

4.17.06 Home Again Home Again Jiggedy Jog
Whew! What a weekend! My husband, brother, future sister-in-law, sister, sister's friend from school and I all went to San Antonio to visit my dad for the weekend. We had a blast. I love "going home" because you get to be a kid again. Although we worked a lot getting ready for the party we had on Saturday, we played a lot too. And, partied for 3 days in a row! Saturday was the big blow out...or what we called the 3rd Annual Crawdaddy Feast. We hosted a crawfish boil and all of my dad's friends were invited. We had door prize drawings, a raffel and crawdaddy races. We played card games and sang karaoke style. I'm telling you it was fun. I will post a few pictures later this week; but, if you want to see them all please visit my website at www.stilwellpictures.com.

4.13.06 HNT "Apology"
Readers and HNTers...I am very sorry I don't have a good picture to share this week. I was running late this morning and didn't have a chance to post my HNT. Ooooo...I have a good one, too! However, I will reveal a "secret" of sorts (see below) and I promise next week will be good shot and a bit risque.
You Are a Fierce Femme |
You have a wild side, and you aren't afraid to bring it out when the time is right. But you also know when to hang back and keep your "crazy chick" persona in check. In fact, some of your friends may be surprised to find out how far you can take it... You may look mild mannered, but it's all an act! |
Who are HNTers? To learn more visit Os and tell him Happy Birthday!

4.7.06 Friday Favorite
Favorite Piece of Advise: When I was in high school, I bought and read most of the God's Little Instruction Books. Out of the hundreds (maybe thousands) pieces of wisdom, quotes and instructions, I remember one. It said to complement at least 3 people every day. To this day, I still make sure that I complement at least 3 people every day. I even complement total strangers. By complementing other people I hope to brighten another's day; but, this practice also has another effect...it brightens my day, too. We have all heard "Give and you shall receive." I believe it. Try it and see what happens...I promise it will make your world a better place to live in.

4.3.06 Monday Me
I have a BA in English and a minor in Psychology. I was going to teach for a living because, for a working mom, teaching provides the BEST schedule. Life lead me in another direction after my daughter's death and I now work in the oil and gas industry as a Division Order Analyst. Lots of research...some math...not at all what an English degree offered. To keep in touch with my "English" roots, I started a Quote of the Month club. Around the first of every month, I send out a quote that I find interesting, thought provoking or funny and send it to my family, friends and co-workers. The quotes usually connect to what is going on in my life or mood at the moment. (Humm..I see multiple blog entries starting to form...)
I will now pass on the wisdom to my loyal readers and all passersby. Please visit around the first of the month of every month to read the new quote. Enjoy!!

4.2.06 Dallas Arboretum
Today was an exciting day. My husband and I went to the Dallas Arboretum. We had planned on having a photo contest between the two of us; but, somehow, my husband's film was damaged when he was winding it up before taking it out of the camera. :( We were both disappointed but...c'est la vie! Here are my favorites from today. I apologize for the quality of the film. I was using my 35mm camera and got in a hurry to have the filmed develped. I took it to a less than worthy developer and...well, you can see the results. After today, I have decided two things...1. I prefer a digital camera...2. I will never take my film to that place again. Enjoy the pics and let me know what you think of them.
